Matrix Art
Matrix Art is the new, completely rewritten height field from bitmap modeler that takes the previous 3-D Trace builder to a whole new level. This fully-featured height field from bitmap modeling program is completely integrated into Matrix, eliminating the need for similar stand-alone products. Matrix Art uses interactive controls to define the height and cross-section shape of the new mesh surface, while another interactive menu adjusts the size, placement, rotation, and contrast of any bitmap image applied to the mesh. New sculpting tools can carve, deposit, smooth, smudge, and blur portions of the bitmap with the ease and control of “painting” on the mesh surface with a fully-adjustable brush tool.

Weight Calculations
Using mass properties of solid models and the specific gravity of a given metal, Matrix accurately tells you how much the item will weigh in a variety of metals.

Pre-constructed Heads
Using the Stuller line of heads, we have constructed numerous heads all with the same numbering system as those in the Stuller catalog. This makes it easy to experiment with different heads to determine the perfect look.

Pave Tool
The new pave tool lays out a complete, production-ready pave design using intuitive, fully-interactive controls. Define every part of the pave pattern, from the number and size of the gems to the spacing and rotation of the layout. Then, experiment with various azure and prong attributes for the pave plate using interactive controls that adjust spacing, size and shape in real time.

Gem Loader
Gems have been reconfigured for consistently high performance speed and display quality no matter how many gems appear onscreen at one time.

Custom Gem Builder
The Custom Gem Builder adds user-defined gem shapes to the interactive gem library. Select gem or diamond faceting for realistic renders, and define several dimensions of the gem so that related components in the piece can be modeled with greater accuracy. User-created custom gems can be saved for future use, re-sized in the gem loader just like a standard library shape, and used in any builder that accepts gems, including render builder, without additional effort.

Gem on Surface
Adjust gem size on the fly in the new Gem on surface tool, which now shows the offset between gems and when gems are equidistant from one another.

Position on Gem
The Position on Gem builder now quickly orients any object or set of objects to a variety of gems onscreen. Input gems of various sizes and select any object or set of objects you wish to orient to the gems. The object will be scaled up or down to fit every selected gem.

Blend Targets
Blend Target Modeling is a powerful new approach to surface modeling. The creation of complex, free-flowing surfaces is faster and more user-friendly now that curves modeled with Blend Targets can be easily modified throughout the design process. Smooth, organic models that were once static and frozen in space can now be fully controlled by the user without the previous lengthy process of rebuilding the model from scratch. Blend curves follow their blend targets around in space as they are moved, rotated, or scaled, making virtually any adjustment to the design – from the subtle to the dramatic – easy to experiment with. Designing complex, flowing, or organic shapes is more intuitive than ever before.

Surface Pullback
The new Surface Pullback tool creates an inset from a user-defined shape on any surface or polysurface. Ideal for Pave set designs, this tool can adjust the depth and draft angle of an inset, previewing the changes interactively onscreen.

Surface Apply Tool
Working in tandem with Blend Targets, the Surface Apply Tool builds surfaces from user-defined curve sets, storing rails and profiles in its virtual memory to redraw a surface after every change – no matter how large or small.

Eternity ring designs are quick and easy with a more advanced, interactive Eternity Ring Builder that draws upon every gem available in the program. Set the shape, size, number, and order of gems, then define gem spacing and other dimensions of the band, selecting from a library of cross-section shapes or drawing your own.

Setting
A new range of possibilities are available for setting stones with prongs in either a line or a pave-style setting. Control the size, shape, and number of prongs, adjust the dome on the tops of prongs from unfinished, flat-topped prongs to fully-finished bead-style settings, and create prong layouts that taper down in size together with tapered stones in a gem line.

Project Manager
3-D projects get large when creating complex models and variations. Project Manager adds more functionality and features to traditional Job Bags, including unlimited project rows with unlimited job bags in them, the ability to name, batch-save, and batch-load projects, and the option to import or export from the viewports only the types of objects (points, curves, surfaces, gems, meshes) you need. Finally, a brand-new timer found in Project Manager may be activated to automatically record time spent working on a project.

Cross-section and Two-shape Signet Ring Builders
Both signet ring builders in the product have been rewritten for greater power and improved user control. Virtually endless signet ring designs are possible as the user controls every shape and dimension in a ring – from top, middle, side-view, and cross-section shapes to width, length, height, and shank thickness. New options even adjust the shape and offset at the bottom of the ring interactively to achieve a fully customizable design.

Render Builder
Render Builder now features new gem materials for improved photo-realism and more environments to enhance the drama of your renders. Style sheets allow you to save your favorite render settings, and Render Scheduler runs lengthy render functions when you’re not using your computer.

Knot Builder
Celtic knots and braids continue to be popular in all types of jewelry. Matrix includes a Knot Builder to generate complex interweave knots from just a few mouse clicks. The builder gives you options to create either symmetrical, even-thickness knots, or free form, variable-thickness knots.

Ring Resizing Builder
This powerful tool allows you to create any ring size from one master ring while minimizing distortion and preserving gem placement. By bypassing difficult parametric modeling, this function can resize a size 6 ring to all sizes from 4 to 8 in ½ size steps in less than 90 seconds depending on processor speed.

Cutters
Improve the speed and efficiency of complex Boolean commands with new Gem Cutter options. Cutters can be created in four different ways, each with increasingly simpler surfaces that Boolean builder can handle more successfully.

Pattern Builder
The new Pattern Builder creates a customized kaleidoscope of patterns using any two objects or sets of objects the user inputs into the builder. Forty possible arrangements, together with four interactive controls for user-specified size and number in the X and Y directions, equal infinite possible layouts for any pattern you can dream up. This builder’s unique history feature allows the user to fine-tune the input design and watch the changes affect the overall pattern in real-time onscreen.
